Mexican Medium Roast Coffee from Brewing Good Coffee Company Review

This is the first time I have sampled coffee from the Brewing Good Coffee Company, and was looking forward to giving it a go.

About the company:  (The following excerpt is taken from the Brewing Good Amazon page): Brewing Good Coffee Company works hard to find the highest quality, most responsibly farmed coffees in the world, sourcing organic, bird-friendly, Rainforest Alliance certified, and shade-grown arabica beans, and to go above and beyond fair trade standards. We methodically determine what
roast profile best suits each variety through our craft-roasting and cupping (tasting) process and our diverse coffee program has something for everyone. Our blends offer a consistent experience for lovers of the full spectrum of roast profiles from fresh, fruity lights; to sweet, balanced mediums; to bold, smokey darks. Our single origin coffees take you on an exciting and delicious journey of discovering the unique qualities of different countries' beans and even the individual characteristics of their different growing regions. We want to ensure that from plant to percolator our coffee is the best. You can buy with confidence that even a casual drinker could notice how strikingly better our high-quality, fresh-roasted coffee is. First you will smell the difference when you open the package that arrives conveniently on your doorstep and the heavenly aroma fills the air. You won't be able to wait to grind the beans!

Packaging: I found their packaging to be rather impressive, with the actual roasting date stamped right on the front of the bag. The entire thing is compostable once you remove the tin tie, and the bag is rather sturdy with a plastic liner to seal out moisture. The label states you should 'drink coffee and ave animals', which may sound strange at first until you realize this company donates 10% of its profits to non-profit rescues. The flavor alone is enough reason to buy this coffee, but this just adds to it.

Flavor: The beans are very aromatic, and appear to be more dry than oily. As you should know, the oiliness of a bean does not actually affect the flavor. It all has to do with the roasting method. When brewed, there is an ever so slight acidic taste, but nothing that should be of concern. There are hints of almond, with a chocolate-like undertone. I also detected a hint of cream that is pleasant and not overpowering.

Overall I would recommend this to any coffee lover. The flavor is worth the price and you're helping do something good for our animal friends when you make a purchase.
